Cards improve to 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in district play with 407 yards of offense led by sophomore quarterback Brody Weaver. Weaver completed 12 of 15 passes for 226 yards with 4 TDs, plus added a rushing score, as this one was a bigger mismatch than expected.
Clay County managed 41 plays for 193 yards, with 150 of that and both scores occurring after the varsity called it a night. Clay County is a better football team and I was impressed with their size and strength on the defensive line.
Next up for Wayne County is a trip to Rockcastle County, while Clay County hosts Knox Central.
