St. Xavier 10 Highlands 6 (2018 State Championship)

The format for baseball is the worst I’ve ever seen. There is a no “logical” reason for having private schools and public schools playing for the same title. First off, and the most obvious reason, is that public schools and private schools operate on different rules for recruiting. Private schools can openly recruit anyone. What parent wouldn’t take a scholarship to a private school where they would have an 8:1 teacherConfusedtudent ratio. The biggest ratio for private schools is 12:1. The best public schools can do is 15:1 based on the stats. Another obvious reason is the enrollment difference. I understand the idea behind of it. They want it to rival the basketball “Sweet Sixteen.” However, there was actually a game that was played in the State tournament this past season where one team had an enrollment from grades 9-12 of 1,199, and their opponent had an enrollment from grades 7-12 of 224.

On what planet does that seem fair?!?!?!?
