"Superman Samons" Will Wear Maroon Cape Next Season

Rylee "Superman" Samons will leave Floyd Central and run with Coach Elisha Justice squad at Pikeville High School next season. Samons says he is very excited to play for coach Elisha Justice and thinks a coach like Coach Justice can add alot to his game.

"Superman" Samons is a 6'5 player that can play multiple positions and is a threat to score from anywhere on the floor. We watched Rylee during an On-Point clinic and walked away highly impressed, he was a middle school kid that was giving the high school kids the buisness. This kid is deceptively very athletic and can see the floor extremely well. Rylee has a forwards frame with guard skills, last season as an 8th grader, Rylee set a Floyd Central record when he knocked down ten 3's against Magoffin County. On-Point's Coach Todd Howard had this to say about Rylee's game-

"Rylee is a lefty, long, athletic player that can shoot well off the catch. His ability to get to the rim and finish has substantially Improved during the off-season. His best attribute is, that he is often overlooked is his ability to see the floor and put the ball where it needs to be."

Samons grew up playing at Betsy Layne with Pikeville prodigy Laithan Hall, then had to move when tragedy struck his family. At the age of 10 Rylee had to deal with the loss of his first coach, he said it was the best coach he has ever had. The hard part about losing the coach was the coach was also his dad, before his dad passed away, he tagged Rylee with the nickname "Superman Samons". Rylee's dad knew Rylee was destined for greatness and he told Rylee to never stop chasing this dream, basketball will take you places. Rylee has received alot of accolades in basketball and his mother said she told Rylee that his dad is right there beside him every step of the way.

Samons rejoined his former Betsy Layne teammate Laithan Hall and another talented incoming freshman Zac Lockhart on the Hoop Dreams AAU team. The "Mountain Trio" just made national headlines when they helped lead their Hoop Dreams team win the Eastbay Fab 48 Tournament in Las Vegas. The Fab 48 Tournament has basketball fans from across the nation flock to Las Vegas every summer to watch elite players from around the world square off against each other in the famous Eastbay exhibition. Rylee has been named to the Rick Bolus Top 50 and was deemed a D-1 prospect by Rick Bolus himself. Rylee was also invited to Coastal Carolina's Elite Camp where Coastal Carolina, Wisconsin and Clemson all named him to their 2022 top recruit list. Rylee "Superman" Samons is the real deal and will make the Panther fans very happy this winter, we guarantee that.
