Divine Right of Kings? Presidential Popery?
#11
TheRealThing Wrote:Baloney is his forte Hoot. Former (mercifully) President barack obama, is on record making the following categorical statement in one way or another, at least 22 times.

BARACK OBAMA, Oct 2010--- “My cabinet has been working very hard on trying to get it (illegal immigrant amnesty) done, but ultimately, I think somebody said the other day, I am president, I am not king,” Obama told Univision in October 2010, when asked why he had yet to achieve comprehensive immigration reform.

Now witness what the magic of liberal rationalization can accomplish when liberals are in power as follows below,

BARACK OBAMA, MARCH 2011---
"America is a nation of laws, which means I, as the President, am obligated to enforce the law. I don't have a choice about that. That's part of my job. But I can advocate for changes in the law so that we have a country that is both respectful of the law but also continues to be a great nation of immigrants. … With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed …. [W]e’ve got three branches of government. Congress passes the law."

BARACK OBAMA, FEB 2013---
“I swore an oath to uphold the laws on the books …. Now, I know some people want me to bypass Congress and change the laws on my own. Believe me, the idea of doing things on my own is very tempting. I promise you. Not just on immigration reform. But that's not how our system works. That’s not how our democracy functions. That's not how our Constitution is written.”

White House Press Room, November 19, 2014---

ABC's JOHN KARL to White House Press Secretary Josh in-Earnest
“Does the President still stand by what he said last year when he said, ‘I am not the emperor of the United States; my job is to execute laws that are passed.’ Is that still operative?” asked Jonathan Karl, reporter for ABC, during Tuesday’s White House press briefing.

“Absolutely,” replied White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest.

“Not a king either?” asked Karl, to audience chuckles.

“That’s right,” said Earnest flatly.

NOVEMBER 20, 2014
WASHINGTON – In a prime-time speech to the nation Thursday evening, President Obama declared that he will unilaterally halt deportations of millions of illegal aliens despite strong objections of many in Congress and widespread opposition from the American public.

Now in generalizing here based on consideration of that which is patently obvious in the evolution of events touched on in the quotes above, it only took King Barack 8 years to unravel what has stood the test of time and trial, for 240 years. That being the US Constitution. But if Obama didn't think he was taking executive actions that only a king could have made when he by fiat, just passed down 'edicts' like the one in which he suddenly granted legal status to millions of illegal immigrants, you could have fooled me. I mean, the words came out of his own mouth.

So here we are again at make-a-point-time. The poor individual beset with the mental condition known as 'projection,' does and says certain things, and then accuses others of doing what he has just done. Thus I give you The Urban Sombrero and the ridiculous premise of this thread. Nobody has been granted a pardon for anything associated with the witch hunt headed up by Mueller. That is just an idea and a debate we're having right now because the talking heads on left know that pardons, like immigration control, are demonstrably within Presidential purview, and because the left's true intent in all of this is the subversion of our present government, they are fearful Mr Trump might rightfully exercise that duly granted constitutional power. But in Sombrero's mind it was okay for Obama to do what he did, in granting amnesty (all courtesy of the ongoing taxpayer dime BTW) to over 5 million illegals. :dudecomeon:
Sombrero would have been happy to have called Mr. Obama King Barack the First. He defended every unconstitutional, imperial action that Barack I took.

The impact on American culture that King Obama took concerning his unconstitutional, royal decrees regarding illegal aliens cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, I have a likely illegal alien from Mexico living in my neighborhood. My wife politely informed him of the many free English classes for recent immigrants. His response was a statement that he has no interest in learning English. It is my experience that his attitude toward assimilation is more common among Mexican immigrants to this country than any other group.

I recently renewed my interest in amateur radio and purchased a software-defined radio for my laptop. Do you remember when we were young and listened to music on AM radio? Sometimes radio stations broadcasting in Spanish interfered with American stations during the evening.

When I tune across the AM band during the daytime in this area, I find almost as many American stations broadcasting in Spanish as English. Why? Because there are so many illegal immigrants who prefer not to learn English. Spanish is spoken in so many restaurants and retail businesses in many DC area neighborhoods, it is very easy for non-English speakers to get by with no problem.

Immigrants from most other countries are generally eager to learn English, learn our language and become assimilated to this country's culture as our own ancestors did. (Obviously, a large percentage of Muslim immigrants share the disdain for becoming Americans that my Mexican neighbor has.)
