Rumor Has It... Okay, this is an open public forum that is mainly based on "Rumors." I just report what I hear going on behind the scenes, therefore it is tagged as Rumor Has It. I can't help that things fall through. If I knew everything to be true I would tag it as Facts Are.. And what would be the fun with that. I also can't help it that people actually takes all of this stuff serious and get butthurt over it. But who am I to judge, you do you boo.

Well, given that none of your predictions come to pass, you might want some new "behind the scenes" sources.

As for people taking it serious, as has already been stated, these are people whose careers and reputations you are potentially damaging. I'd say you wouldn't like it if someone posted on an "open public forum" that they were in the know and "heard a rumor" that you were interviewing for other jobs (when you actually weren't) and it started gossip that got around to your boss, coworkers, and clients.

Ask someone whose employment has been negatively effected by an untrue rumor (e.g., Professor whose Doppelganger was at a white supremacist rally, leading to him being falsely accused of attending who had to go into hiding after receiving death threats and whose Department began getting flooded with letters calling for his termination).

It's playing with fire to recklessly post some of that kind of nonsense. It may not be all fun and games to explain something that affected another's livelihood and employment during a deposition if you plan on using the ole "I can't help it that it didn't come to pass... stuff obviously changes quickly" defense. The ole "I heard that rumor from someone else and was just repeating it" won't save you in certain circumstances either.
