PIKEVILLE, Ky. â A 12-year veteran of the Pikeville Police Department was shot and killed in the line of duty last night.
Few details have been released so far, but Pikeville Mayor Jimmy Carter announced that Officer Scotty Hamilton was conducting an investigation along with a Kentucky state trooper at Hurricane Creek around 11:30 last night, when he was shot.
Police are treating the case as a murder investigation. They ask anyone with information to contact them at (606) 437-5111 or Kentucky State Police at (606) 433-7711.
