The lack of seeding at the Sweet 16 has really hurt the 13th Region.

Eh... probably more just a run of bad luck in such a small sample size.

I would think that some of those 13th Region teams (particularly the 2000 Corbin and the 2014 Clay County squads) would have been underrated going in anyway.

Overall, I think seeding would really hurt the chances of the underdogs. Most years, you'd have teams from the 7th and 11th seeded in the Top 4 and most likely not meeting one another until the finals (or semis at best).

Getting an easy first game and being able to avoid one another until late would probably be disastrous for most other team's chances.


Would be interesting to see how teams would have been seeded using the Cantrell and Litkenhous ratings would have paired teams in previous years. For example, if you go back to 2005, you'd have to think that Ballard and PRP would have been #1 and #2.

That puts South Laurel having to beat each of them regardless of where they came in if chalk held. Throw in another game against a Henry Clay, Bullitt East, or Pendleton County just to get that far and it gets far more difficult.
