FRANKFORT, Ky. — Nearly a year after he pleaded guilty to theft and bribery and resigned from the Kentucky Bar Association, the Kentucky Supreme Court has decided former disability attorney Eric C. Conn should never be allowed to practice law again.

The state’s highest court this week decided to permanently disbar Conn.

The court based its decision on Conn’s guilty plea last year to theft and bribery, as part of a scheme to defraud the Social Security Administration. The justices also considered Conn’s 2013 guilty plea to a charge of making a straw contribution to a candidate.

“Conn’s action’s, as reflected in his pleading guilty to multiple charges, exhibit conduct which make him unfit to practice law in the Commonwealth.” Chief Justice John D. Minton Jr. wrote in the opinion for the court. “Aside from Conn’s recent behavior, fleeing the country, he has pleaded guilty to enough criminal financial activity to support permanent disbarment …”
