Delivery Driver Accused Of Stealing Over $30,000 In Cash And Packages
#1
PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) – A man is facing aggravated theft after detectives recovered more than $30,000 in stolen property that was supposed to be delivered across the Portland metro area.

Police arrested Heriberto Villarino-Zamora, 33, early Thursday morning while serving a search warrant at his Gresham home. They said they found hundreds of stolen packages and almost $5,000 in cash.

During the investigation, officials learned Villarino-Zamora was a private courier hired by a national retailer to deliver packages.

Detectives started looking into the theft on December 6 after getting reports of several thefts from those retailers. They used OfferUp to find suspects and recover some of the stolen items.

Two days into the mission, they said, detectives had recovered over $15,000 in stolen property. They also identified Villarino-Zamora as a possible suspect.

They carried out a search warrant at his home on NW Wonderview Drive early Thursday morning. They found hundreds of stolen packages (valued at more than $16,500) and $4,900 cash.

Villarino-Zamora was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on first-degree aggravated theft.
