I don't think it means their program is any better. It just seems like it's fate that when the two meet, most times the stronger team appears to be Danville that year. It's hard to be much better than 22 title appearances in 42 years. For instance, what do you think would have been the outcome had Danville met up with Mayfield in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 or 2015? It's just strange how it works out that way. All I know for sure is that they were better this year.

I've always seen both programs as examples of the long time blue blood of KHSAA Football. Danville has most years had the upper hand when they played because they were the better team that year. Some years, like the ones you mentioned, Mayfield was far better than the Ads they just never played.

The only State Title I would say that Mayfield has where Danville was the best team in the state would have been 1993. Prestonsburg played the perfect game to beat probably the best Danville team of all time in the semi-finals.

If some Admiral fans or Cardinal bashers are going off it's probably because they took the overconfidence by some as just that.

I think Mayfield will continue their run next year and probably for years to come because they keep on reloading with talent and tradition.
