Boils down to not enough senior leadership and nerves. They let the bogus TD taking the score to 21-7 break them down. It could have been a different game otherwise. Danville was better on this day. Had more athletes ready to compete. I'm not a Mayfield supporter really. My kid goes to McCracken. Just giving opinions like everyone else.

Not really IMO. There was time for Danville to run one more play near the goal line. (BTW it was 20-8 not 21-7)

At halftime Mayfield had 9 rushing yards.

They added a whopping 32 rushing yards in the 3rd quarter. 73 passing yards in the 3rd Quarter for the Cardinals.

Meanwhile Danville ran a punt back and controlled the ball almost as well as the Cardinals and increased their lead.

In the first quarter Mayfield had 7 yards of offense. When Thorton went down for Danville the tone changed. The Cards got the safety and hit the long bomb at the start of the 2nd quarter. 8-7.

Then Thorton returns. First play is a Van Cleave reverse to the house and Mayfield was instantly deflated. Ads settled in and executed pretty well the rest of the way.
