I think this might be one game the certainly can’t use the refs as an excuse. We probably had just as much penalty yardage as total yards haha. If it wasn’t for that 99.9 yard drive we had it’d probably be more. I’m not saying they were killing us, but dang they threw a lot.

No ref excuses. Game was played really clean, although Central made many more mistakes as far as comparing the last 2 games, procedure wise. I don't think Central had one false start against Belfry. However a lot of that was Corbin's D line held it's own, MUCH more than Belfry's did. Also Corbin's linebacker play was a ton better than Belfry's. #9 is still the best running back I've seen all year in his combo of speed and power, and just WILL. He still got yards after contract last night, but the main difference, he didn't break one single huge run for a TD. Corbin hit him hard enough to really slow him down, then the 2nd and 3rd cleanup/finish shots were getting him down. He's not a big back at all, so once his momentum did get stopped he could get rag dolled just a bit and slung back. He hardly ever went fully down, lol, just a tough kid. But Corbin did slow him down, big time. I'd say he still had over a hundred yards, maybe.

Coaching won the game, not just the 4th quarter time management. It wasn't consistently horrible, but Corbin, I'm sure knew, as all of us there figured out, the first 2 play calls were almost always going to #9. And then an obvious passing down. They might have mixed up their play calling 2 or 3 times. Corbin sent some really timely blitzes, outside and inside backers. I don't know what the QB's options are in their offense for his reads, but a blind man could see that OLB blitz from Corbin and the QB didn't read that at all, hand the ball to #9 to get a full on shot from the OLB, if he pulls and keeps it he's probably going for big yards. I'm not sure where Central's passing game was in the first half either... I am not a fan of bringing your QB all the way across the field to get a playcall from their coach, not these days. Sizemore made better decisions, made the right reads, and threw the ball very well. The only passes he didn't complete looked to be on the receivers. I think I said Central left at least 1 TD off the board in the first half, not getting in on the 1 yard line, and not hitting their great receiver on 2 slant opportunities in single coverage and no safety help. Although the goal line series you can credit Corbin's goal line defense, more so than blaming Central's play calling. Corbin may have left a touchdown off the board that first half too, as Sizemore hit a receiver in perfect stride, perfect placement on a seam route (I think), and the kid couldn't haul the pass in. Central's offensive line, at times, totally blew Corbin off the ball, as I though they would. #52 was a bad dude all night long. But Corbin was able to stalemate with their D line, and gap control well enough so the linebackers could make some plays.

In all this was a great game. Easily, to me, the best game I've seen in 3A this year. It wasn't a great game as far as back and forth really, but a great game from one team having a great half, the other having a great quarter. The momentum change was unbelievable. Central seems to always be able to muster up something in the 2nd half and play better. From the first half with their fans wanting the QB changed and fussing at kids for no heart, to the 2nd with the team surging a bit, and the fans fully back on board. The game ended up being great, as we debated going to it, or Etown and Boyle (also a great game). Couldn't have went wrong last night, just as a non biased football fan, as to which 3A game you went to.

Final thought for Central, they need coach Scroggins back. Just my opinion I guess.
