The hardest thing about officiating is not knowing what to flag but when to flag. If you called a penalty every time a player lined up 3 inches off sides, or every hold that was 45 yards away from the point of attack then there would be 300 flags and it would take 2 days to play the games. JMO

No you’re absolutely right. If it doesn’t effect the play and it’s not a saftey issue then it shouldn’t be thrown. The problem is, like i stated above, judgement on when it does effect the play. Like you said, there is holding every single play. Hell out coach used to give us each ONE per game. But does it need to be called on the backside tackle on a run play? It’s up to that individual
