He was not an evangelical, nor do I believe are you. Nonetheless he did refer to 'The Creator' and 'Nature's God' in the Declaration of Independence, and based in fact, the entire justification for America's break with England on same. And he therefore proclaimed such authority to Mad King George in declaring our independence, because he recognized the sovereignty of God. And he knew the very moral authority by which we govern ourselves, comes from and was a gift from God.

Now to address your profound ignorance about the history of this nation. "The original states, except Rhode Island, collectively appointed 70 individuals to the Constitutional Convention, but a number did not accept or could not attend.
