I remember one time when Whitley turned the tables on Corbin in the 1st round of the District, but it was way before your time. Corbin was really strong that year and was the odds on favorite to win the region and playing at home, but decided not to pitch Horvath who had already signed to pitch for EKU. Whitley hung close and were only down 2 runs in the 7th inning and Corbin brought Horvath in, Whitley had 2 on with 2 outs and Roger Richardson came to the plate and hit a 3 run HR that hit off of Steve Bird's glove before hitting the scoreboard over at Rotary Park.

I believe that Corbin has been paying back ever since though.

In my entire lifetime, I don't remember a single time that Whitley was on the opposite end of one of these meltdowns. Not one.
They had this game won. I told my wife in the 5th inning that Corbin would win 7 to 6. It's inevitable. It happens every single time.

The worst one I remember was late 90s while I was actually at Whitley assuming I don't have my years messed up.....we were up several runs, almost double digits in the 7th inning.
Seems like junior peace (another all star baseball coach lol) decided that was enough runs. Subbed in Aaron Taylor to pitch, who for all his strengths in the outfield only threw about 50.
Long story short, Corbin won the ball game down almost double digits with 2 outs. I think that was the Corbin team with BJ Foley, the Cooke kid, etc.

It has to be considered a curse at this point.
