Any chance of him going to Pikeville College? If they have offered tell him to take it, they are in need of players like Shawn.

From what I am hearing that will probably not be his choice, but I'll let him make his own announcement. I think he might be going to where he will play an integral part.

I made a statement earlier in the week about Shawn being the best player in the 15th region and several other players not being able to carry his water bottle and I got chastised by their respective rooting sections. Just this week in the 57th district tournament I have seen several of the other top player candidates play multiple times such as McCarty, May(only once), and Slone. Let me say this one more time, there is absolutely no one that has the impact that Shawn Thompson does night after night and nobody in this district can carry his water bottle.

May is very streaky and only plays when he feels like it. Great players come out ready to play night after night after night. Maybe he has coaching problems, and maybe he has personal issues which have been mentioned, but bottom line, great players overcome all of those issues when they take to the hardwood.


Slone is just not that great of a player. Matt Maynard would eat his lunch 10 out of 10 games. I know that the Big Blue's will be crawling out of the woodwork to defend his honor, but relax in knowing that I do think he is a well above average player , but he is not even the best player on that team. In fact I may not have him rated any higher than the 3rd or 4th best player on that team. VanHoose is your best all around player, then followed by Grimm and maybe even Pugh. If they all want to play as a team they can be a successful team, but if they all want to individually think they are the show then you can write it down that they will be sitting at the house from now on, because it's all one and done from this point on.

As far as McCarty it is ridiculous to even have anyone bring him up. That is one player that would be sitting on the bench next to me if I were the coach. That kid just has no concept at all about what a team sport is all about. You JC fans can now have your turn at me , because even though he hit a couple of threes at the end, he is the very "bird" that cost Johnson Central their game last night with stupid shot selection. When Central had the momentum going their way with what I believe was an 8 point lead, it was McCarty that took them out of their apparent game plan and let Paintsville back in the game. Of course you could also pin the blame on his coach for leaving him in the game. I really think that you all may have gotten a real lemon in the coaching department with your new leader. He seems to do some pretty stupid things and doesn't appear be the brainiest guy of them all.

I'll have to watch Brad Lowe a couple more times before I can really give an educated summary on him. I have not watched him very much at all, but there must be something to his hype. You cannot lead the state in scoring for a major part of the season and have your team playing at a high consistent level and not be pretty darn good. One dimensional players usually show their true colors and their teams usually follow the downward flow in the end.

So as of right now , I stand firm in my opinion. It's Shawn Thompson.
