District 6
This is the power district of the east side of 2a and should remain as such this year.

Newport Central Catholic
The Thorobreds finished last year at 9-6 and state runners up. I look for them to do about the same this year. The Breds didn't lose enough to bump them from the thrown. They lost 14 seniors from a squad of 55, which is good numbers considering the rest of the east side as far as numbers go. The Breds however lost a beast on defense in Maleek Lawrence, who warranted a double team on every snap. They also lost big time back Jacob Smith. They however return on of the best qb's in the state and plenty of help. I expect them to win the east again and come up a little more short this year at state.

Covington Holy Cross
These Indians went just 6-6 last year but have a history of playing good ball. I expect them to return to form this year. They only lost 5 seniors from a squad of 42 that saw 4 8th graders listed. I expect this to mean they will be more experienced and mature this year. I therefore think they will make the jump to district runners up.

Loyd Memorial
They had a great year last year and return a lot of numbers this year. They finished at 9-4 and return 60 off a squad of 74. They could pull off the number 2 spot again in this district but, I expect Holy Cross to overtake them.

Newport
Again, the numbers tell all. They went 1-10 last year. They also lost 10 seniors off a team of just 42. That leaves them returning less than anyone in this district.
