An attempt to break the rules is still an attempt to break the rules

Let me get this straight. From the "facts" presented in the original post, an attempt to contact the school seeking permission for participation in an open gym was made allegedly. According to the KHSAA bylaws presented, permission to participate in an open gym must be granted by the proper designated person from a school. So where exactly was the "attempt to break the rule"? It actually sounds as if the facts presented actually support the conclusion that the rule was followed.
