Amos McCreary Named Bell County Head Football Coach
Football1 Wrote:"Strapping up" is precisely the problem. If spring practice was wholly devoted to physical training, drills, teaching offense and defense, increasing agility and full pads drills where proper hitting technique and other full speed instruction were applied - it would be a worthwhile endeavor.

Instead, Coach Imabadass lines everybody up day one and has them beat the dust out of each other until someone gets injured. At least that is how it was for me in HS and college. KC's coach has been smart with Spring ball but I think he is the exception.

"Spring Ball" occurs 4 months before game 1. Putting kids at high risk that far out is just stupid. If it was used correctly - it could be beneficial. But all too often it is an ego trip that just adds to the concussion argument while running a few kids off.

Well i don't know where you played high school or college at but, Spring ball is very important both high school and college. you do need to be smart there is no reason to go full pads everyday at any level. For example position battles are won and lost during spring ball a lot of times. Yes there are some that spill over into camp but in general a staff knows who the 1's are heading into the summer. In high school its a great way to install systems and get extra reps for every kid you have out. So I'm not arguing your point you are correct spring ball is like anything else if you have an idiot running the show then it can be harmful. Bottom line is anything cane abused and done the wrong way but to say its not a great thing or a waste of time is false, its absolutely Imperative.
