Cruz is not a liberal or a populist and Trump is not a conservative. Oil and water.

Place yourself in Cruz's shoes. Trump accused GWB of lying to persuade Congress to go along with the Iraq War. A couple of nights ago, Bill O'Reilly asked him about it. Trump said that he never accused Bush of lying. Knowing that Trump did accuse Bush of lying during the SC debate, and knowing that it is on YouTube, if you were Cruz and were asked if Trump lied, how would you answer a question from the media, "Did Trump lie?" Would you lie for him? Say that he misspoke? Tell the reporter to ask Trump? There is no good way to handle that situation. Whoever might run with Trump, they had better be great at deflecting questions.

I believe Cruz and Rubio when they say that they believe a Trump nomination would be a disaster for the country. I think that they are too smart to knowingly board a doomed ship. A VP, no matter how smart, cannot do much to mitigate the damage of a bad president does, but he well share the blame.

I have been fortunate to have worked most of my life for people who I trusted and respected. The rare times that I worked for people who I did not trust and could not respect made me miserable.

Cruz and Rubio do not like, respect, or trust Trump. It's easy for people to say that they should set aside their personal feelings toward Trump for the good of the country, but they would not have to work with him.

If Cruz does end up on a Trump ticket, I will lose a lot of respect for him, but I just don't see it happening. I would be less surprised to see Rubio on the ticket, but I doubt that well happen either.

Okay but Trump is no populist by definition. And again, you I nobody, can categorically exclude Trump's intent to govern from the conservative view.
