Luke ch. 22 (KJV)
42: Saying, Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from Me: nevertheless not My will, but Thine, be done.


Matthew ch. 26 (KJV)
39: And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me: nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt.

42: He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, except I drink it, Thy will be done.



The term THIS CUP is Sin.
When Jesus prayed and said "let this cup pass from Me" that is when the war was won. Jesus took on the entire sin debt of all humanity when THE CUP passed. The Death, Burial & Resurrection (The Gospel) of Jesus had to happen to fulfill prophecy. Jesus knew the 10 Legions of Angels were waiting at the Gates of Heaven just waiting to for Him to call. But without the shedding of His Blood, the sin debt of all humanity wouldn't be covered.
