Cordia 62 Murray 45 All"A" State Championship

FunFan Wrote:Too bad Cordia and the local community are not as enthusiastic about academcs as they happen to be about having a good basketball team. Cordia is consistently near the bottom in every statistical measure in academic performance at the elementary, middle and high school level. But the school can spend resourcess to assist at-risk, inner-city youth, who also happen to be pretty good at hoops. Makes sense.

Just because the receive low scores does not mean they are not enthusiastic about academics. My graduating class had two students who both received full academic rides to UK, and both are going to graduate. People act like Cordia doesn't care about academics but in reality the less students the less amount of chances for higher scores. And another thing, the state had to come in at PCC because of the low amount of college and career ready students, if Cordia has no regard for academics why hasn't the state came in? Now at a small school teachers do get the chance at more on-on-one time with the students but that doesn't always transition to test scores. I know that every teacher in the high school at Cordia really pushes the kids at the school and hold them to high standards and that includes the basketball players as well. My brother is a teacher at Cordia and he is one of the hardest working teachers I ever had and that includes the years I spent at Robinson and the GREAT teachers there.
