Elkins made his presence defensively for sure but was not much of a factor on the offensive end. Too many open 3's given up for Clay County. Got in a hole in what was a really good game. Farmer was on, and some, from the jump. Unfortunately, that performance comes in a losing effort. Boyle County is a better team than most anticipated. I honestly went in to this not really knowing what to expect from them. Smith managed to put some points on the board but the kid's shot just is not falling and I hate it for him because it was not as if he wasn't trying. Of course, getting blocked a couple times can make you question things but he kept going back. Clay County honestly rebounded really well at times for being undersized, that surprised me. They just gave up several second chance opportunities on a few occasions. At the end of the day, the Tigers simply got beat. I wouldn't press a panic button or anything of that nature. Regroup and head to the Classic.


Side note: the gym was horrible before the game even began. Clay County fans wanted no part of the game it seemed like to me. Boyle County is a very respectable program and brought a nice group. Dead fans, no band, weak student section. Not good.
