Whew, I know what you mean! I listened to Stumbo's stumbling tirade too, and I can see why he doesn't speak publicly all that often. What he basically said was that it is the Democrat Party which has the moral authority to govern, and that is based solely on their willingness to give away working people's tax dollars to non working people. According to him then, Dems have the inside track on Christianity, not the Republicans. To him, one can dump a load of innocent babies into the garbage disposal on the one hand and still be the Lord's right hand on the other as long as they keep stoking government giveaway programs.

The power of self delusion knows no bounds whatever, and the willingness to double down on failure and the shame of policies gone amok always seems to work. The best analogy is embodied as follows in the famous SNL comedy skit with Jon Lovitz---

Oh, you'd be surprised how many famous people belong. In fact.. at one of the meetings I met my wife - Morgan Fairchild! Yes, I'm a changed man now, and all because of Pathological Liars Anonymous. Why, I - I even have my picture on the cover of Newsweek magazine. Yeah. Every day! Yeah.. that's the ticket! Yeah, you betcha!

And the Dems say, "we're the spiritual ones, yeah.. that's the ticket! And, if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance, yeah, that's right! It's all W's fault anyway, yeah, you betcha, it was his policies that spawned ISIS, that's right! The 10 Trillion dollars added to the debt is his fault!
