How did your school get their Colors & Mascot?
#63
The legend of how South Western got their colors and mascot begins with when the powers that be decided there were another county high school needed in Pulaski County they started looking for land to build on. The only land available was a 40 acre tract occupied by a tribe of about 60 Cherokee Indians led by a famous Warrior Chief, Chief BJDOUG and his faithful sidekick Bucwheat. When the PC school board explained the situation to the Chief he agreed to move his tribe further north. So as a thank you gesture the school board named the school mascot Warriors and the colors were to be Blue and Orange because of the matching Blue and Orange head dresses Chief BJDOUG and his companion Bucwheat had on that day. It was also reported that the PC school board did not know for sure if Bucwheat was a man or woman or something in between.:truestory:
