I hope you guys liked last weeks 2a games. I think I have come up with another good slate for you all this week as well. Sorry it took so long to get them out but here we go:

1) #1 Beechwood 1a @ #8 Lloyd Memorial 2a
Right off the bat we get what looks like it should be a great one. The new front runner in 1a, squaring off against a top ten 2a team in their first matchup of the season. Both teams had similar records last year and both look to be tough this year as well. Beechwood finished at 11-3 on the year in 2014. Lloyd finished up at 8-3 and turned some heads in 2014. Lloyd has picked up right where they left off by starting 1-0 this year. Beechwood has also apparently looked very well in their scrimmage. I see this being a great one to watch with lots of implications.

2) #2 DeSales 2a @ Butler 6a
This is a game to show that the really traditional teams of 2a are not afraid to go above their heads in classifications. DeSales has been the king of 2a for the past 2 years and is intending to finish there again this year. They have beefed up their schedule to help with that quest. DeSales finished up last year at 14-1 and state champs. You can also figure in the fact that they avenged their only loss on the season in the playoffs. Butler finished out 2014 at 9-3 themselves. This in the class where the big boys play. The two have started off in different directions this year though, as DeSales had a blowout win and Butler had a loss. I still expect this to be a great game.

3) Glasgow 2a @ Lou Holy Cross 1a
Here we have a matchup between two teams that have been on the cusp of greatness for the past few years. They both had the same records for 2014 at 8-4. They both also started off the 2015 with an L. This appears to shape up as a great game between two storied programs with aspirations of greater things to come. I think both programs will look to use this game to springboard them into the remainder of the season.

4) Clinton County 2a @ Trimble County 2a
Here we have a game between two teams that finished 2014 in a similar fashion. Clinton finished at 3-7. Trimble finished at 3-8. We also have two teams that have started the season with a loss. And then, to top it off, this is a game that came down to the wire last year as Clinton won 26-20. This one here is for a lot of bragging rights and that always means, you will get the best out of each of them.

5) Rockcastle County 4a @ #7 Danville 2a
Here we have a game between two teams that are known state wide. Both have storied traditions. Both finished up last year in similar fashion as well. Both also figure to be in the mix of things this year. Danville finished 2014 at 7-4. Rockcastle finished up at 6-5. This should be a great one to watch.

6) #10 Lexington Christian Academy @ Ky Country Day 1a
Here we have a game between two fairly new private schools, both of which have had success. Both teams have gotten off to good starts to the 2015 season with wins. Both also finished 2014 with almost identical records. LCA finished up at 6-6. KCD finished up at 6-5. I think this could be a great game with lots of implications as well.

7) Whitley County 5a @ Middlesboro 2a
We have another game here where the small school is going way above their heads to attempt to strengthen their schedule. Both of these teams finished up in 2014 as middle of the pack teams. Whitley finished at 4-7. Middlesboro finished at 5-5-1. Both also have started off the season with a loss. This game will mean a lot to both of these teams and could help propel the winner to get on tract for the rest of 2015.

8) Somerset 2a @ Williamsburg 1a
Here we have a game between two teams that went in opposite directions last year. Somerset had probably their worst season in school history. Williamsburg had their best and again finished as state runners up. This is a role that most people in the area are accustomed to seeing Somerset in and therefore expect them to get back there this year. This year the two have started off the season in opposite directions as well. I feel that there are too many players on the Williamsburg that have enjoyed the last two seasons success to let them get on a role of losing. I therefore think this is a very pivotal game for both programs and should be a great matchup.

9) Grant County 5a @ Owen County 2a
Here we have a game between two programs disperate for wins. The two last year found the same amount of the elusive W's at 1 a piece. For Grant that came in this matchup by a score of 60-7. Grant has already picked up their first win of the season in last weeks matchup. Owen will be starting the season this week, maybe they can follow suit. I think this should be an exciting matchup as well.

10) Hancock County 2a @ Union County 3a
Here we have another game between two similar teams that was won in a shootout last year by UC 55-32. HC finished up 2014 with a mark of 5-6. This game was the difference between a losing or winning record for them. UC finished up at 6-5, a winning record by resort of this game. Hancock started off the year with a loss last week and needs to get back on track. UC did not play but, has looked good in scrimmage. They appear to have a lot of speed. I think this one should also be a good game to watch.
