Johnson Central 67 Lawrence County 60 (15th Region Championship)
#26
I thought the difference in this game compared to the ending in the Sheldon Clark game was leadership and experience. I think Sheldon Clark got really frustrated with the LC pressure and Blair and his team attacked the LC press/pressure and took care of the ball.

Lawrence is a good basketball squad but I'm not sure if they are a good team yet. I notice a couple of times when the came to the bench during timeouts there was a little mouthing between players...nothing real bad, but in a close game that's not a good sign. Experience, especially experience under pressure is a tough learning experience sometimes. I think being in the championship game four times gave the JCHS seniors a little more of a comfort zone.

I think the Pack kid has gotten better every game and if he continues to work through the summer, he could be the go to guy next year. He is strong, seems like a smart player who doesn't try to do things outside his limitations and isn't afraid of contact. Rice also played well last night...as a matter of fact the whole team played well and deserves another try in the BIG DANCE.

It was a great game to watch, both teams played hard, fair and both showed respect for the other. A lot of people think that the JCHS run is over, losing the 15 region POY and the 15th region tournament MVP. Me, I think there are other players that will grow, mature and get stronger before next season rolls around and they will be right in the hunt for their 5th region championship in a row.

Now Eagles...get ready to play in the greatest show on earth, the Kentucky High School Basketball Sweet 16...enjoy the ride!
