Had the exact same thought myself tonight, Cowbell...

This wasn't as much a game Valley won as it kept its head above water and didn't make a critical error. The two INT by Valley came on long pass attempts in the 1st half. P-burg didn't capitalize.

P-burg had 3 big chances to put this one away in the second half. In one Frasure fumbled while fighting for yardage 12 yds past the LOS with 3 tacklers draped over him. The other two ended on rare mental errors by Jarrell - trying to throw while in a tackler's grasp (the big INT return for a TD) and the other INT on 3rd down with <1 min. left trying to force something not there.

Only the coaching staff knows why a pass was called leading to the pick-6... Frasure had been running like a train. The man in the booth must have missed that the Valley weakside LB was crashing every play, because the playcall left Jarrell a sitting duck. Jarod should have eaten the ball, but tried to make the throw. The Valley DB did a good job sticking with his blockers on the INT return.

The playcalling was also a bit too cute in OT. Don't KNOW what the 3rd down call was supposed to be, but it certainly blew up. We should have kicked the FG on 4th and goal from the 7 - going for it there simply isn't smart football, especially considering the way P-burg's defense had kept Valley's offense controlled all night.

Emotions boiled over during the end of Valley's initial play in OT as a P-burg player played past the whistle. It was only a 2 yd. penalty, but big yards inside the 5. From there - the 2yd line on 2nd down - there isn't a defense in the state that could have stopped Valley from scoring.

Sometimes it's HARD being a football fan. Tonight was a good example for a P-burg fan. Valley did just enough to win - and an OT win counts just as much as a 30 point shellacking this time of year.

This was a game for the ages, and it will certainly go down as the biggest football game in SV's history. I am sure glad I was there to see it.

I tell ya, I thought sure P-Burg had it in the bag when they were driving deep in Valley territory, with an 8-point lead and only about 7 minutes left. Frasure had been running through Valley's defense like a man possessed. Things sure looked bleak at that point. But then...

Holy crap, the play of the year. That pick 6 was something to behold. I watched it happen right in front of the home stands, and I never imagined he would take it all the way. He wasn't exactly a speed burner, and I thought sure someone would get him. But he broke a couple tackles, got a couple key blocks, and the next thing you know he's past everybody with nothing but open turf in front of him. It seemed to take forever to make it all the way down the field, and thank goodness he had an escort to protect him at the end, but he made it. The kind of play that young man will tell his grandkids about some day.

After that, it still seemed like Prestonsburg was able to move the ball fairly well, and to be honest I was just praying for overtime. Once SV won the toss, I figured P-Burg would score first and kick the XP, then Valley would score also and it would come down to the 2-pt conversion. Once the Wildcats held on defense, I was fairly confident SV could get 10 yards in 4 plays.
