1804640]Let me say 1st to Scotty B. you were exactly right. LC is going backwards. Let me say 2nd Raceland has a very good team that capitalizes on opponents mistakes. I expected to watch a close game but the LC coaching staff could get out their own way. I do not understand how in the 6th game of the season you have 11 false starts. I do not understand a player who was ejected in a previous game keeps jawboning until he gets ejected this game. I do not understand a coaching staff that must be up to 20-22 coaches by now do not even attempt a hurry up offense. I do not understand why better defensive players were not used when there was still a chance but when the game is decided you put your QB in. Lc back to playing out of desperation. And the thing I am the most upset about, whoever was playing the pregame music with all the F'ing this and GD that needs to go. There is absolutely no need for that at a high school football game. LC needs to use the rest of this year to practice for next year. Congrats to Raceland and the best of luck the rest of the season.

I hope you understand my reasoning now in the other thread when I asked about what Cecil's punishment was? I've seen this same thing happen kill teams over the past 30+ years. My first coaching job was the OC at a good high school program. We had a similar kid. He was thrown out one game and suspended for the following week. However, no team punishment was given. He practiced with the starters and after his suspension he was right back as if nothing happened. Well, before the season the head coach gave a passionate speech about class and a no tolerance policy on that type of behavior. He was our best player and we were ranked #1 at the time. I'm assuming the pressure of winning got to coach? Regardless, from that point on the head coach lost the team's respect. He went on to get kicked out of three more games, and was passed up by college recruiters because of his attitude. Not only that, but as a team we lost the next 4 out of 6 games and went from being the state championship favorite to being a first round exit team that year. That kid is now a cashier at Big Lots and he's been fired from every single job he's had since high school. One team did take a chance on him and it lasted until their first scrimmage when he punched the QB during a pass skelly because he was upset at something. He never went back to school. Those kids never gave respect back to that coach because they knew rules only applied to certain people and if you were good enough he'd get you out of it. The parents finally pressured the administration enough to where they got rid of him the next season. All it would've taken was for him to stay true to his word and they could have not only won a state title, but it could've taught an important lesson to that young man about consequences and how to control your emotions. Maybe if he'd learned that lesson he would have been able to complete school and have a great college career? Instead, that one decision impacted that kids life as well as the rest of the team. I think Cecil is probably a good guy and he means well. He probably thought he could get through to Dalton without punishment? However, one thing ive learned is the only thing young kids pay attention to is consequences. If they know the consequences are there, then they tend to think about their actions more. Dalton was probably told by people and his peers how cool it was when he fought Breathitt, and after his coach didn't punish him(actually campaigned for him)he most likely assumed Cecil condoned his actions as well. I think Cecil has probably lost his team from a respect aspect. Based off talent and having home field, this game should have been very even. However, his players didn't show up for him. Its possible to turn that type of situation around, but it involves complete transparency and accountability to regain the respect of his team. I'm sure with that many coaches, there are several different ideas on what should be happening? In order to turn things around, the ideas need to be coming from one person. A coach should never let a player hear him talking about doing something other than what the head coach wants. It causes dissention and from what I hear regarding the game, their was a lot of dissention. When I played an unsportsman like call got you benched for a quarter, a personal foul got you benched for the rest of the game, an ejection got you a 3 game suspension. These were all printed team rules given to every parent, player at beginning of practice for upcoming season. Violation of team rules, whether on field or off field, were immediate and made no distinction between starters or subs. During my time there was no OC/DC only the HC, and he was the final answer. Yeah we had position coaches but they did not dare breath a word during a game to any player. The HC controlled all win, lose or draw. LC head coach has allowed former players and parents of former players to infiltrate his sideline. Their only expertise is they played football for LC but they are given a coaching jersey even if they are a volunteer. They are perceived by players to be the "bosses" so to speak. When you watch the LC sideline, 5 or 6 different coaches will tell 1 LC player what he needs to do. Extremely confusing for players. When Luke Salmons was coach he had hand picked coaches that all had played college ball and he did not allow hangers on.
