On the play you are speaking of linebackers were still 5 yards off the ball with safeties still behind them? Why? What are they protecting against on 4th and goal at the 1? Running a 5-2 defensive scheme why are the linebackers not up in the gaps between the nose guard and the D tackles with the safeties in behind to read the play and fly in over the top TO STOP A SHORT YARDAGE PLAY. I love our program as much as anyone and am our biggest fan but I am also realistic. Out system works when
1. You have better athletes
2. Play an unfamiliar opponent

Our system struggles when you play teams that have played us multiple times and have similar or better athletes, watch any game film when we have played the likes of Pburg, Johnson Central, Breathitt, Sheldon Clark, Mike Holcomb is the best I've seen at neutralizing the attack of the Pirates.

Defensively how can you expect a secondary to stop a passing attack when from the time they are raised through the feeder system they never face a passing threat. How can you expect these young men to have the ball skills required to stop the high octane passing attacks that everyone now runs? This same theory can be applied to our passing game, why get mad or angry when we drop a pass or throw a bad pass? I mean really what should we expect from these kids?
