Will Belfry make it past their region this year?

With that said, I do believe Belfry came into the game thinking they could coast thru and still get a win, but, what they found out was they aren't as good without there 2 best backs, one out with injury and the other out by transfer. Let's face it, the Pirates have never been known as a passing team, but, rather a run it down your throat power team. It's difficult to do that with your 3rd and 4th string backs. The combination of overconfidence, injuries and a great gameplan by the opponent got them beat. It happens. I also think they underestimated how good offensively that the Panthers are. I don't think they expected them to go toe to toe with them in the trenches and they did. Even as well as Pikeville played in the 1st half and as dominant as they were, the Pirates likely felt pretty good at the half only being down 1 score and getting the ball ist to start the 2nd half. I'm sure they felt they'd take control in the 2nd half, which they did, in the 3rd qtr, but, just couldn't finish the deal and punch it into the endzone. Then once they got into the later stages in the 4th and the Panthers scored again, it was then that they realized they could possibly lose the game and panic setin and Pikeville, by that time, wasn't going to be denied.
Game was at PHS.
