I agree to some extent, but if the offense lines up with four wides, it's stupid to stay in a 5-3 or 4-4 because fast receivers will smoke your backers. Or, if you line up in a wishbone, it's dumb to stay in a 4-3, and sometimes it's even dumb to stay in a 4-4. Your last comment is right, but you can't do that with smart coaches. Yeagle was great at doing that to the offense and defense.

Actually--Yeagle lived and died with the theory that I spoke of. Which speaks to your point. We didn't actually start changing fronts until Coach Rash took over the defense in 2002. And we never really got away from our Base.

For us--we operate in 53 for normal situations and then 43/2 deep and 35/36 during passing situations. Again-if we have the right people in the right spots--it doesn't make a difference. If we are not as good as we have been in the past--I would see us making some changes.

I don't disagree with your points--there are more than a few ways to skin a cat. And in actuality--I honestly think that we are on the same page.

By the way--it is good to have you over here. (Even if we mix it up--but that is the cool part--you bring the wood/facts even if guys like me don't agree).
