No offense--but thank goodness that I have been around coaches who don't believe in that theory. Not that it is bad--but I think that the teams that I have been around have done better playing the best defense that suits their personnel as opposed to immediately trying to play into your opponents hands.

Make an offense try to adjust to the defense, not the other way around.

I agree to some extent, but if the offense lines up with four wides, it's stupid to stay in a 5-3 or 4-4 because fast receivers will smoke your backers. Or, if you line up in a wishbone, it's dumb to stay in a 4-3, and sometimes it's even dumb to stay in a 4-4. Your last comment is right, but you can't do that with smart coaches. Yeagle was great at doing that to the offense and defense.
