I went to games there a couple weeks back, and they are men's slow pitch fields with bad dirt for starters. Not even good ones!!
The temporary fences had holes all through them, and were falling down in the breeze, literally. The concession stand is below average to bad. That's just off the top of my head.
It is a travesty because KHSAA said they were pleased with the improvements, yet as far as the areas where the actual games are played and the players spend their time, they are no different (except maybe worse over time) than they were 4 years ago when I first was there for the State Tournament.
To me, KHSAA's concern has nothing to do with the players or the teams, and everything to do with the KHSAA members who congregate in the press box/lounge area.
If it were about the teams and players, they would play at the complex with the best facilities for the players and teams, creature comforts for the crotchety adults be damned.
I am sure, though, like everything else in life, it's about "follow the money", but I'm not about starting any conspiracy theories.
