Analyst: Harrisons will be in D-League if they go pro
Posted by Ben Roberts on April 23,2014
Julius Randle is leaving, and Alex Poythress and Dakari Johnson are staying.
That leaves the Harrison twins as the only Wildcats who had not yet announced their NBA decisions as of Wednesday afternoon.
ESPN analyst Chad Ford said during his weekly chat Wednesday that both players would be âborderlineâ first-round picks if they entered this yearâs draft, but he didnât paint a very rosy picture of Andrew and Aaron Harrisonsâ immediate futures if they leave UK right now.
â(Both) of them have potential to go much higher in 2015 if they return to school and if they improve,â Ford wrote. âI donât think Kentuckyâs incoming guards (Devin Booker and Tyler Ulis) could beat them out of a starting job. With Cauley-Stein and Poythress returning and Karl Towns and Trey Lyles joining the team, there is a chance that they are running the best team in the country next year. If they go to the NBA, they are playing in the D-League. Hard to see how thatâs a better option for them. I know they have wanted to declare but the feedback from the NBA has been lukewarm at best. They should return, but hard to predict which way this will end up going.â
The Harrison twins have until Sunday to declare for the draft.
