[Panther Thunder]

Ok "Thunder" and "KyRock" let me paint you a picture. Your son is driving to the basket. He is 6'9" and can dunk at will. The apposing player says "I'm not about to get dunked on", "because there's a price to pay for dunking" and they foul YOUR son hard and INTENTIONAL. YOUR son the 6'9" player, whom by the way never questions a call or plays dirty, goes to the floor hard and hits his head. The impact causes a brain hemorrhage and now YOUR child is dead.

My question to you 2 fine fellows is....... is YOUR child’s life worth the "price to pay for dunking"????

There’s a difference in a clean hard foul and playing dirty. Hall has endured DIRTY play now for 3 ½ season all because he can dunk. He may possibly lead the state in drawing intentional fouls (4 in 3 games of the regional tournament. Very sad, if you ask me, that other players and even worse COACHES who teach their players it’s ok to inflict harm to another player/kid/someones child. <--- Possibly YOUR child someday.

By the way, Congratulations JC. Make us all proud in RUPP.

I do not mean to sound insenitive, not in the least, but that is reaching. If there is that much concern, one shouldn't step on the court when one understands there is a possibility for severe injury. Injuries happen all the time with no malicious intent, it is a part of the game. I never called for anyone to intentionally attempt to injure a player. A foul is a legal play in basketball and when executed properly is not going to endanger anyone. When a player is at a disadvantage in height or athleticism it may be necessary to use from time to time. This should not be perceived as "dirty". No one is condoning inflicting intentional injury on someone, other than whoever said they should send in goons to repay the favor.

Flagrant fouls are another story. But, no one suggested that either. You are putting people behind statements they didn't make.

But you never did play, unless you are talking about video games, so you shouldn't make that statement. Doing something like that is called being a coward because someone is more talented and you don't want to get shown up. Why not work to get better, learn how to play defense with your feet, slide into position to cut them off instead of running behind them and yanking them down?

Correct. Never played a varsity minute, but it isn't like I have never played organized basketball lol. Never was big on video games, but I appreciate the smartass remark. Are you unqualified to discuss the NFL because you didn't play in it? I think my understanding of the game is sufficient to comment on this subject at the very least.

Being a coward? Who in the hell said anything about running from behind and yanking someone down? Don't put words in my mouth. The best defensive players in the world have to give up a foul sometimes because they get beat and don't want to give up an easy basket. You all act like he is the first player to ever be fouled while attempting to dunk. I never once said anything about playing dirty and trying to hurt anyone. But going for the ball in a manner that a shot will not be made because of the foul is nothing remotely close to dirty.

Just because a player is better or you get beat doesn't mean you give them an easy bucket. Since you played the game obviously at a much higher level than my comprehension, you should understand that a coach would much rather a player foul and make the player shoot 2 free-throws then give them an uncontested dunk. I have no clue how that is so baffling to you guys lol. Nor do I understand why there was such malice in the response. I took no personal shots at anyone, just gave an opinion on the topic.
