The school with the newest gym tended to get the tournament. It was at Knox Central for a while, then Bell County, then Clay County, then it started alternating districts in the 1990s, which is how we finally got it back in Harlan County at Cawood.

My first regional was the 1976 one at Union College. I missed a couple after that in high school, but I think I've been to every one since 1981.
