Taylor Co. 73 - E-Town 61
#7

HERALD-LEADER (COACHES) PRESEASON RANKINGS

Top teams: 1. John Hardin; 2. Elizabethtown; 3. Bardstown; 4. Thomas Nelson; 5. Taylor Co.; 6. Marion Co.; 7. Central Hardin; 8. Adair Co.

CATS PAUSE PRESEASON RANKINGS (DONE BY COACHES)
1. John; 2. E'town; 3. Bardstown; 4. Taylor; 5. Central; 6. Marion; 7. LaRue; 8. Bethlehem
(NOTE CATS PAUSE WAS DONE BEFORE Dixsons were cleared at Thomas Nelson, which could explain Thomas Nelson not being there)

Pretty clear the COACHES themselves did NOT think Taylor was a top three team:
John: 1-1-1
Elizabethtown: 2-2-2
Bardstown: 3-3-3

Taylor (4-4-5) was pretty much fourth

I will say based on results, Taylor has played its way into TOP 3 with Bardstown and John.

Hard to put Taylor over those two, though, especially when Bardstown won ON THE ROAD at John while Taylor beat a slumping E'town team AT HOME in a rescheduled game. Plus, Taylor doesn't play Bardstown or John (or a schedule as tough as Bardstown's or John's).

I'd put Taylor third for now. And if John and Bardstown are in the same region bracket -- that's happened several times -- Taylor's in the region final.

Don't know what Bardstown and John would have done to drop out of top 2.

If Cotton is out longterm for E'town -- McDonald still not completely healthy -- that decimates E'town's backcourt. Without Cotton, E'town has no consistent long-range threat. Plus, he's the backup ballhandler.

Thomas Nelson showed preseason rankings don't mean much. They've fallen off.

Meade County football, the 6-A runner-up, and Scott County, the unbeaten 6-A champ, showed preseason rankings don't mean much. Meade wasn't even preseason top-10 in a 32-team class.

I didn't think they Taylor was top 4. Coaches DEFINITELY (based on three different polls) did NOT think Taylor was top-3. Not much a difference.

Of course, Kentucky was preseason No. 1 this season. Not sure the Cats are after three losses.

RANKINGS DO AND CAN CHANGE.
