It's been said that one dimensional, unbalanced teams have a hard time winning the big game. 2003 and 2004 Belfry's stats from combined State title games 141 carries 845 yards, 1 pass for 5 yards.

Belfry has been more balanced since then looking at the 2011 and 2012 appearances (both games they had slip through their hands) 267 rushing yards, 149 passing yards.

Once again, it's not that the passing game is bad, we just prefer no to use it.

lol.... now that's a misleading post. The 03-04 Pirate teams had, imo, the finest set of RB's and one of the best blocking o-line's in its history. It was smart for those teams to throw so rarely. I don't believe anyone from Belfry wishes either of those teams had put the ball in the air more. lol...

In 11-12, the running games weren't nearly as dominant. As a result, Belfry threw more often during the regular season. But make no mistake, it was having enough regular season reps in doing so which allowed them to throw with some success in the finals.
