Ohio lineman Stepaniak has four early favorites

Hamilton (Ohio) Ross offensive guard Simon Stepaniak is just starting to learn about the schools recruiting him but he's already got a few favorites.

Last week Stepaniak told Cats Illustrated that Kentucky, Ohio State, Indiana and Louisville are the four schools standing out to him the most right now.

The 6-foot-4, 287-pound guard visited Kentucky for the Alabama game, and while he wasn't able to connect with the coaches he did enjoy the recruiting event.

"It was awesome!!" Stepaniak texted in to Cats Illustrated last Sunday. "The atmosphere is awesome. I loved it."

Stepaniak said it was his first game at Kentucky and his first time at the school and despite the loss, the Wildcats' effort and the support of the Big Blue faithful impressed him.

"They get crazy and they know how to support their team," said Stepaniak, who has offers from Indiana, Ohio, Toledo and Bowling Green already.

Though the junior offensive lineman wasn't able to speak with any of the coaches it's clear that his primary recruiter will be Vince Marrow and his position coach would be John Schlarman. There's reason to believe he's a prospect Kentucky is keeping a close eye on even beyond the fact that he was invited to visit.

"My coach is the only one who's talked to them. I want to start talking to them though," he continued.

While Stepaniak is listed as a guard he actually said that he believes schools will recruit him as a tackle. One year from now he's likely to have an impressive frame that makes that a very plausible scenario.
