Lafayette's Wills should be a top Kentucky target

Landon Young isn't the only offensive lineman at Lafayette that the Wildcats are keeping a close eye on.

Young committed to Kentucky after an outstanding camp performance this summer evidently convinced the coaching staff that he was too good to wait on.

He has a younger teammate that Kentucky likes as well.

Jedrick Wills is only a high school freshman but he's already 6-foot-4 and claims to check in at 290 pounds. Kentucky is the only school to show interest thus far but there are signs he's going to be a prime target for the Wildcats in the coming years.

Wills attended the Kentucky-Alabama game along with teammates Young and Clay Bolin.

"It was fun and interesting to see another team from the SEC," Wills said referring to Alabama.

John Schlarman, Kentucky's offensive line coach, is the coach that paid the most attention to Wills while he was in Commonwealth.

"He's not texting or calling (because) I'm a freshman and it's illegal for him to but at the game I did (talk to him)," Wills said.

When asked how much interest he has in Kentucky at this stage Wills said "it's tough to say," because it's so early in the process.

"But I really like them," he said.

Wills already is starting for Lafayette's varsity team. He and Young give that line two anchors for the next three years.

And the fact that he's good friends with Young bodes well for the Wildcats.

"Maybe (it helps) a little," Wills admitted.

It's safe to say the UK coaches will have the inside track when it comes to contact and evaluation.
