You should watch the Frontline special on the NFL's response to the concussion issue. That -- and having had 2 family members die after a long struggle with Alzheimer's/dementia -- will make you think twice about letting your kid play football.

But, my son plays football and I thought twice about it. He won't keep playing if a head injury becomes a problem. I welcome people doing what they can -- and what they should -- to make the game safer. It would be very easy to blame insurance companies and lawyers if the game goes away. The inescapable fact is that -- like many dangerous conditions -- we know more about the consequences of playing football today than we did 40 years ago. It's on parents to make the call.
