@Gitback Coach - we have had several inital meetings with the KHSAA.

In their words - "middle school football is the most organized sport of them all at that level (including basketball). And that is because of the KMSFA."

They want us to continue to operate the way we have. They recognize that we have regulations, training requirements, rules, the playoff system, etc. in place. The challenges for the KHSAA with regards to middle school are all of the other sports (soccer, archery, softball, volleyball, etc) where there is literally a vaccum with regards to regulations. Football, basketball and wrestling already have state associations for their sports at our level, respectively.

The "issue" (if you want to call it that), will be getting all of the middle schools in the state who play football to stop hemming and hawing and get on board.

I will also say that the $250/year membership fee teams pay currently to the KMFSA that we use for operating expenses will be a drop in the bucket compared to what these new regulations will require middle school athletic departmens to pay to the KHSAA for all sports.
