1. Williamsburg (11-2): Everyone knew the Jackets would have an explosive offense last year but the top defense in Class A was something of a surprise as Williamsburg gave up only nine points a game. Williamsburg should make a run at the state title.

2. Campbellsville (4-7): After losing their first five games, the Tigers closed strong and won four of their last five in the regular season to stoke hopes for a deeper postseason run in 2013. Eight starters are back on both offense and defense.

3. Lynn Camp (3-8): The Wildcats showed improvement from the previous year's 0-11 disaster with three wins in their first seven games before running out of gas down the stretch. Six starters are back on offense, led by quarterback/receiver Aaron Mills, tailback/receiver Tommy Hatfield, receiver Tyler Reynolds and guard Bryan Blue.

4. Berea (2-9): With most of their key players back from a four win team the previous year, the Pirates' collapse in the second half of 2012 was a disappointment., Berea brings back four starters on offense and six on defense.

PRESEASON FAVORITE - WILLIAMSBURG

Very few teams in Class A can match the Jackets' firepower with Dalton Sizemore returning for his senior year after passing for 3,133 yards and 39 touchdowns in 2012. Sizemore's two favorite targets also return in Skylar Griffith pulling in 61 catches last year for 1,176 yards and Corey Shelton grabbing 63 for 1084 yards. Junior center Chris Helton and sneior tackle Tyler Taylor are back to anchor the offensive line. Junior linebacker Jefferson Patrick had 11 tackles to lead an unheralded defense that also features junior end Michael Rose-Creekmore, sophomore end Austin Huskey and a secondary of Griffith, Shelton and Chase Lowrie that teamed for 16 interceptions.

NEXT IN LINE - CAMPBELLSVILLE

Knocking off a state contender like Williamsburg will be a difficult task, but the Tigers have hopes for a longer stay in the Playoffs with an experienced team returning, including nine sophomores who started a year ago. Campbellsville features a potentially explosive offense with sophomore Kendon Young back afer catching 46 passes for 700 yards and 11 touchdowns last year. Sophomore Austin Hash had 16 receptions at tight end before suffering a broke leg in the fourth game. Senior Zach Durham, a three-year starter at quarterback, passed for over 1,000 yards in 2012. Tge dfense will feature junior Eric Lamer, a three-year starter, and sophomore Deston Ford, the leader in tackles last year, returning at linebacker. Junior Derrick Caldwell is the top returning lineman.

2013 PRESEASON PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Dalton Sizemore, Williamsburg, Sr., QB, 6-1, 200. With over 3,000 yards passing and 39 touchdowns, Sizemore orchestrated one of the top passing offenses in Kentucky in 2012 and will likely put up bigger numbers in 2012 with most of his key receivers coming back. Sizemore was also a threat on the ground with a team-leading 626 yards and 123 carries.
