The answer is that it could not have been any worse. When money is taken out of the economy and spent by the government, jobs are destroyed, not created.

Great sig! Many feel the that the economic indicators on which liberal/Keynesian economists hang their hats, are so thin as to be explained away as merely interpretive glitches in the data. Like being aboard the Titanic, and being told that it doesn't matter if the lower decks are steadily filling with ice cold sea water because the bars and other facilities on the promenade deck are still dry. The democrat rationale truly is ridiculous with regard to advising us to disregard the national debt trillions-O-meter, with numbers whirling so fast they are literally a blur.

And like the guy who owes 200 thousand dollars, but has a job which provides him with a gross pay of only 55 thousand a year. Something will have to give at some point. And similarly, our nation, like this guy, chooses to ignore the problem like it will somehow miraculously heal itself. Our national debt is on pace to reach the 20 trillion mark before Obama's term is done. Economists are banking (pun intended) that because we are always going to be among the world economic heavy weights, no country will ever be in a position to 'call in our note'. That may define Keynesian economics, but it is my definition of reckless behavior perfectly. I mean, America's new idea of a budget is to go all-in every year. If we don't wake up we won't survive.
