With the departure of Lone Oak, I would say that yes, Owensboro and Madisonville are probably the primary competition for the region title. I actually lean towards Owensboro as the favorite right now. Owensboro only had 8 seniors on their roster, and returns 4 of their 5 lineman plus their TE, their QB, and one of their top rushers. Defensively they have a few lineman coming back (a couple of them play on both sides of the ball), a couple of linebackers, and almost their entire secondary. Their largest loss on the offensive side of the ball is their fullback who was the leading rusher. But in the Wing-T, runners are just about a dime a dozen. Usually very replaceable. The line is what bodes well for them. East only beat them 14-7 last year at East. This year it would be at Rash if both were #1 seeds - East has never won there.
If I were ranking the three teams, it would be Owensboro, then East, then Madisonville a little further back of those two.
