I thought Male had a team in the early 2000s that was #1 in the nation for awhile, but i know they were nationally ranked. i want to say o'bannon and bush were on that team

Male was nationally ranked but I don't think they were in the top 5. Actually Male and Ballard were both ranked in the top 20 in USA Today. Kentucky had a good run during that time frame. Lex Cath was ranked #2 or #3 in 98, Scott County was ranked #6 in 99. Male and Ballard were ranked high nationally in 2001. The interesting thing is that none of these teams won the state championship. In 2007, Scott County defeated #1 ranked Huntington with OJ Mayo and Patrick Patterson. That 2007 SC team was the only team to go undefeated in the state in the last 40 or 50 years.
