Paul Raines steps down as LCC Football Coach
#66
Success at the middle school level doesn't necessarily translate to success at the high school level. If the players at LCC had poor fundamentals and problems learning systems in high school that's probably because they weren't taught these things at the middle school level. I think if LCC fans would worry more about a coach's ability and less if he's likable guy they might be able to keep coaches. Nick Saban is a perfect example. He's not the most likable guy in coaching but Alabama let him go through a few lean years when he got there and he built them into a perennial national championship contender. You can't keep getting on here and blasting coaches that have proven they can win at other schools just because he isn't a nice guy. I'd much rather have a coach that can win than one that everybody likes. But I don't see why any coach that can go somewhere else would take this job because he has from his hire date until the first game to be their favorite and then after that he's the worst coach in the country according to a bunch of people on here. Whitaker and Raines were both proven winners that LCC fans drug through the mud until they couldn't stand to put up with the crap anymore and left before they had a chance to install their program. It takes about 3 years for any coach to really get going, longer if the feeder programs refuse to get on board so that the high school coach has to teach the basics and start from scratch when they get into high school. Look at the successful programs, they run the same thing from peewee to high school, they also don't have a bunch of mommies and daddies on BGR complaining because someone yelled at their babies. If you all couldn't handle these guys I'd hate to see a coach like some in EKY that are really loud and vocal to kids when they make mistakes. Winning takes time, you can't compare every coach to the one that was there a few years ago. I'm guessing if he thought they'd be good for a few more years he might have stayed a couple more years but since he left it leads me to believe he also thought they'd be down that's why he left on top rather than wait a couple of years when all the kids were new or young. These LCC posts are the First Take of BGR constant nonsense spouted by people with little knowledge of the game.
