Cov. Holmes 68, Cov. Holy Cross 65
#4
This was one strange game. Holmes falls behind 9-3 early, then goes on a 45-14 run to close out the half. Even though Bolden hit the game-winning trey with a minute to go, he didn't have a particularly good game, especially in the second half. (Fatigue factor starting to set in?) He got his pocket picked several times by Holy Cross's guards and got called for a travel with 20 seconds left in the game. What really hurt Holmes is that the refs' whistles went silent in the second half. No trips to the line for the home team. If the 'Dogs lose to CovCath at CovCath on Tuesday, that means they'll likely have to play Holy Cross again in the district tourney, and that ain't good, especially with the 6-8 Antonio Campbell bombing threes in addition to playing intimidating D in the second half. Still, the Bulldogs won the game despite being outscored 42-20 in the last two quarters. That doesn't happen often. The tough part of the schedule begins Tuesday.
