America idol has to be scripted

I don't see how this can be true when you have to have people that can actually sing to be on the show. Of course they are going to show some of the funny ones but Simon said that they only show the people that actually think that they are good and arn't just trying to make it on TV. I don't see how that can be scripted. I mean the only important part is that they sing the song, that's the only reality to it.
